The Music Therapy Association in Türkiye in collaboration with Müzik Terapi Akademisi invites you to a two-day symposium “Reflections from the World”, in Istanbul on 15th-16th May, 2026.
The language of the symposium is Turkish, with translation into Turkish for the presentations given by overseas speakers.
There will be 2 keynotes given by Prof. Dr. Annie Heiderscheit, former president of the World Federation of Music Therapy and Director of the Cambridge Music Therapy Institute at Anglia Ruskin University:
1- What counts as evidence-based music therapy? Integrating research findings, client preferences, and clinical practice wisdom.
2- Which intervention and when? Improvisation, composition, music listening and music making.
There will be 3 panels in which 9 music therapists from Türkiye living in the USA, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, and Türkiye will share their experiences.
The other panel topics will be:

– Using music in health in Türkiye: Past and Present
– Informal training: Müzik Terapi Akademisi
There will also be 2 3-hour workshops where participants will engage with the keynote topics.
