Hello!
My name is Anita Gžibovska, I am a Music Therapy student at Riga Stradiņš University. For my master thesis I have chosen the topic “Basic principles of music therapy for people after cerebral stroke”. The aim of the research is to identify the basic principles of music therapy in work with patients after cerebral stroke. One of the steps is to conduct an online focus group to gather the experiences and opinions of four to six practicing music therapists from Europe, who are working with people after cerebral stroke. The focus group will include questions like:
1. What are the characteristics of the cerebral stroke patients population with whom music therapists work on a daily basis?
2. What are the goals of music therapy and the approaches and interventions used for people after cerebral stroke?
3. What is the procedure for applying music therapy approaches and interventions in practice?
4. What are the results of the music therapy process for individuals after cerebral stroke?
5. What factors influence the choice of music therapy intervention for individuals after cerebral stroke?
The focus group is planned to be conducted on the Zoom platform and will last up to two hours. The discussion will be facilitated by the author of the study and an assistant who will take notes of the discussion. The discussion will be recorded, the recording will be converted into transcripts and used in the thematic analysis.
Participants will be asked to provide written informed consent. The storage of the data obtained will be kept strictly confidential. The study will respect the protection and confidentiality of personal data in accordance with the legislation in force in the field of general human rights, data protection of natural persons.
