The EMTC hosted a free online training event for music therapists on 28th March 2026, welcoming over 80 attendees from across the globe. Led by Dr. Rachel Swanick, one of our Vice Presidents, the session focused on supporting parental mental health through music therapy—an area that strongly aligns with EMTC’s annual focus on mental health.

The topic highlighted the growing need to support parents, with research suggesting that up to 66% may experience anxiety or depression due to stress, isolation, and the significant mental load they carry. Music therapy offers a valuable space for connection and support, particularly through the principles of PACE: playfulness, acceptance, curiosity, and empathy.
The session sparked thoughtful discussion, with engaging questions from participants and very positive feedback. We look forward to our next training event on Saturday 13th June, which will explore supporting mental health in neurodiverse individuals.
